Tuesday 10th August – Maths

Skip Counting by 5s From a Non-Zero Starting Point.

I am learning to skip count by 5s from any number.

I know I can do it when I am skip counting by 5s from any number.

Independent Task

You will need a book or some paper for this activity.

Starting from the numbers provided, you need to record (write down) the next 8 numbers in order, skip counting by 5 each time.

Example:

8 – 13, 18, 23, 28, 33, 38, 43, 48.

Use these numbers:

15 –

30 –

7 –

18 –

26 –

Adjusting This Task For You

If the task above was a bit tricky for you, try this:

Skip count up to 50 using 5s- Write the numbers in order and represent the pattern through drawing.

For example, 5 *****, 10 *****, 15 ***** – to show that it is 5 more each time.

If the task above wasn’t challenging enough for you, try this:

Choose the following numbers: 85, 110, 97 and 177 and then skip count on by 5s.

Can you skip count backwards from those numbers?

Tuesday 10th August – Literacy

Verbs and Adverbs

I am learning to use and identify verbs and adverbs.

I know I can do it when I can use verbs and adverbs in a sentence.

Today we are going to focus on using verbs and adverbs. Watch this video to learn more about them! ↓↓↓

Independent Learning

Think of the athlete that you researched yesterday, make a list of VERBS that might be used to describe your athletes sport and some ADVERBS that might describe their performance.

Your list should look something like this:

VERBSADVERBS
RunsQuickly
SprintsEnergetically
PuffsFerociously
PaddlesExpertly
LiftsSkilfully

Challenge

Using the list of verbs and adverbs that you have created, write some interesting sentences.

For example:

Stewart McSweyn RUNS GRACEFULLY as he SMASHES his competition BRAVELY.
